Upgrade to Fenton Zawiya Facilities
A mosque founded on righteousness from the first day is more worthy for you to stand in. Within it are men who love to purify themselves; and Allah loves those who purify themselves. (Surat at-Tawba, 9:108)
ZAWIYA HISTORY
As-salam alaikum wa rahmatullah,
In 1983 Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani, speaking in Sri Lanka, said, “We will establish a qiblah in the midwest of America.”
In August 1993 Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani dedicated the Fenton Naqshbandi Zawiya, located in Fenton, Michigan. Present at this magnificent ceremony were Hajjah Amina Adil, Mawlana Shaykh Adnan Kabbani, HRH Raja Ashman bin Azlan Shah and an entourage of mureeds from across the globe.
The Zawiya was purchased by Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani in 1991, and with great effort over many years, was prepared as a spiritual sanctuary for people from all walks of life, and from all corners of the earth.
The Institute for Spiritual & Cultural Advancement (ISCA) has been operating the Fenton Naqshbandi Zawiya as a gathering place for students of the Naqshbandi Sufi Path, to spend time in worship, contemplation, education, work and recreation.
PRESENT NEEDS
The property has operated under a Special Land Use Permit (SLUP), issued by the local township, based on its use for religious gatherings. Obtained only after extensive hearings before the Planning Commission and several years of work, the permit allows the Zawiya to function freely.
In 2015 the Zawiya’s ‘picnic area’ was expanded into a full-fledged masjid and gathering place.
However, due to this expansion, and increased use we have seen over the years, the township has requested that ISCA make certain property changes and improvements to accommodate the increased use, including installation of new restroom facilities, and a bathroom for the handicapped. We have contracted an engineering firm to draw up the design and implement these changes.
Therefore we are coming to you, the members of ISCA/Sufilive and the Naqshbandi Sufi Order seeking our assistance in making these changes and complete permitting with the township.
We seek to accomplish, through the blessings of our Naqshbandi Masters of Wisdom, the completion of this project.
It was narrated from ‘Amr bin ‘Abasah that the Prophet of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever builds a Masjid in which Allah is remembered, Allah, (the Mighty and Sublime) will build for him a house in Paradise.” (an-Nisa’ee)
